Roger Ibbotson reveals the explosive power of long-term market returns: how a $1 investment in 1926 could have grown to over $14,000 by the end of 2021 through the magic of compounding.

Not "mechanically inclined," Ibbotson knew he wasn't cut out for his family's HVAC business. So he went to the University of Chicago to study economics. Ibbotson and another UChicago alum, Rex Sinquefield, transformed voluminous data generated by the Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP) into "Stocks, Bonds, Bills, and Inflation," their influential 1977 study of major US asset class returns. Mr. Ibbotson was an Independent Director of the Dimensional Funds from 1981 to 2021.
